THE ROLE OVERVIEW

ILOS is seeking an experienced Insurance & Risk Manager to lead insurance arrangements across the business and its growing renewable energy portfolio. The role will take ownership of business protection and project-related insurance, while consolidating the current broker structure and introducing a more consistent approach to risk management, coverage, renewals, governance and reporting.

The successful candidate will also support project finance due diligence and wider risk management activities, working closely with internal teams and external advisers. A strong practical understanding of renewable energy is essential, particularly solar PV and battery energy storage systems, including fire-related and other project-specific insurance risks.

TASKS

• Own and coordinate ILOS’s business and project insurance portfolio across its European operations.
• Review policies and coverage to identify gaps, overlaps and opportunities to strengthen protection.
• Lead the consolidation of the current broker structure into a single lead broker arrangement, including selection, transition and ongoing governance.
• Manage renewals, policy placement, administration, reporting and claims support in coordination with brokers and insurers.
• Ensure appropriate insurance coverage for solar PV and BESS projects throughout development, construction and operation, including fire-related and business interruption risks.
• Maintain accurate records of policies, limits, deductibles, exclusions, insurer requirements, bond lines and key renewal dates.
• Support insurance due diligence for project finance transactions, including lender requirements, adviser queries and financing conditions.
• Provide insurance and risk input into project financing, wider risk assessments and the monitoring of agreed mitigation actions.
• Support in aspects of credit insurance, bond lines provided by insurers and other credit risk related matters.
• Manage and coordinate insurance Due Diligence in the context of project financing and support where needed other DD workstreams such as technical DD.
• Support the overall risk management of the company.

PROFILE

• 5+ years of experience as an infrastructure or energy insurance broker, with a strong track record advising corporate and project insurance programmes.
• In-depth knowledge of renewable energy insurance, ideally covering solar PV and battery energy storage systems across development, construction and operational stages.
• Proven experience conducting insurance due diligence for project finance transactions and responding to lender, adviser and insurer requirements.
• A practical understanding of project finance structures, contractual risk allocation and lender-driven insurance obligations.
• Experience managing complex, multi-country insurance programmes, including renewals, claims, broker relationships and policy governance.
• Strong knowledge of project-specific risks, including fire-related exposures associated with solar PV and battery storage assets.
• Experience of broker consolidation, broker transitions and the establishment or management of bond lines would be advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across internal teams, lenders, advisers, brokers and insurers.
• Full working proficiency in English & German.
