Our Wössingen plant near Karlsruhe, Germany is among the most modern cement facilities in Central Europe, producing high-quality products for some of the most demanding construction applications. We are now looking for an experienced, influential and forward-thinking Health & Safety Manager to lead and shape the next chapter of our safety journey. Reporting directly to the Plant Leadership Team, you will play a critical role in strengthening our safety culture, ensuring compliance with legal and corporate standards, and driving continuous improvement across all aspects of Health & Safety. The Role In this role, you will:
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the site's Health & Safety strategy, fostering a proactive and sustainable safety culture
- Act as the key advisor and subject matter expert on all occupational health, safety and risk management matters
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements, corporate standards and industry best practices
- Identify risks, drive preventive measures and implement initiatives that continuously improve safety performance
- Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, conduct root cause analyses and ensure effective corrective actions are embedded
- Manage internal and external HSE reporting, providing meaningful insights, analysis and recommendations to stakeholders
- Serve as Radiation Protection Officer and HSE Management Representative, supporting the ongoing development of management systems
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits and ensure successful implementation of resulting actions
- Develop, review and communicate HSE procedures, standards and work instructions
- Deliver engaging training programmes and awareness initiatives that strengthen ownership and accountability for safety across the workforce
- Partner closely with operational leaders and employees to build a culture where safety is a shared responsibility
- Act as a catalyst for change, inspiring people to challenge existing practices and continuously raise safety standards
- A degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Natural Sciences or a comparable technical qualification
- Certification as an Occupational Safety Specialist (SIFA)
- Several years of experience in a Health & Safety or a similar role, ideally within heavy industry, manufacturing or building materials
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, regulations and management systems, including ISO 45001
- Experience driving cultural change and embedding behavioural safety programmes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, combined with a pragmatic and hands-on approach
- The ability to build credibility and influence senior leaders, operational teams and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication and training skills
- A proactive, resilient and solutions-oriented mindset
- The ability to motivate, engage and empower employees to take ownership of safety
- Fluent German and good English language skills is a must
