With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role description:For our Project Management Team Technology in the Places Business Unit, we are looking for a dedicated Cost Manager (f/m/d) to support data center construction projects. The position is located within our global Places business unit. Together with our customers around the world, we create, promote, and optimize intelligent, safe, and sustainable places where people live, work, learn, and succeed. People and communities thrive when their living, working, recreational, and play spaces are designed and operated to best meet their needs.Role accountabilities:As a Cost Manager (f/m/d) for Data Centers, you will develop and manage cost, procurement, and commercial strategies throughout the entire project lifecycle. You will support our clients from project initiation, procurement, bid evaluation, negotiation, awarding, through contract management to ensure the delivery of safe and cost-effective solutions aligned with their programs and business objectives.Develop, monitor, and update cost plans, budgets, and cost breakdowns for data center and large-scale infrastructure projects.Analyze cost forecasts, variances, and risks; develop and implement measures to optimize costs.Evaluate contracts, bids, and compensation structures related to construction activities; support tendering and awarding processes.Collaborate closely with project management, planners, and procurement teams to integrate financial aspects and ensure project profitability.Prepare financial reports, cost analyses, and recommendations for senior management.Monitor payments, invoices, and contractual payment terms with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements during project execution; contribute to value engineering initiatives.Assist in contract negotiations, claims management, and change control processes.Qualifications & Experience:First and foremost, you share our passion for improving quality of life and for customer satisfaction. You are technically skilled, have relevant experience in managing building and infrastructure projects, and bring with you:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.Minimum of 7 years’ proven experience in cost and financial management of construction projects; experience in data center projects is an advantage.Solid knowledge of contract law, tendering procedures, and procurement regulations; proficient in AHO, HOAI, and VOB.Strong analytical and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset.Excellent proficiency with cost management software, MS Excel (including cost modeling), MS Project, and similar tools.Strong communication skills and experience working effectively with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.Agile and adaptable working style in dynamic market conditions.Professional certifications or memberships (e.g., RICS, CIOB) are a plus.Fluent English is required; German language skills are advantageous.Willingness to travel regularly within Germany and internationally as project demands require.If you are enthusiastic about this position but do not meet all the requirements, you should apply anyway.
