Senior Photonics Design Engineer (m/w/x)

Our partner Is looking for talented photonics design engineers with strong analytical skills and a solid background in the design and characterization of photonic ICs (PICs)

Our partner is a Swiss-German high-tech start-up specialising in innovative laser and frequency comb technologies. Its portfolio includes silicon nitride lasers with extremely narrow linewidth, frequency-modulated lithium niobate lasers and Kerr comb generators, enabling applications in optical communications, fibre sensing, LiDAR, high-resolution spectroscopy and wideband signal processing. He is committed to precision, reliability and performance and strives to push the boundaries of photonics while serving an international customer base.

Aufgaben

• Design, simulations, and layout of integrated photonic devices for lasers and Kerr comb solutions.
• Develop characterization setup and contribute to characterization and test effort of ultra-low noise lasers and Kerr comb PICs.
• Participation in the mechanical design of the prototypes.
• Reporting and documentation of system development progress.

Qualifikation

• MSc + 4 or PhD in physics, photonics or adjacent fields.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: III-V semiconductor lasers and optoelectronics, silicon photonics design, nonlinear photonics/Kerr frequency combs, RF engineering, optical/electrical packaging, photonics system design, photonics devices testing, electronics.
• Experience with FDTD simulators, GDS design tools, Python/MATLAB.
• Knowledge in development of electronic and photonic subsystems, and system control software would be a plus.
• Industrial experience preferred.
• Excellent proficiency of English, fluency in German highly desirable.
